Forever knowing but never growing!

When did we become such know it all’s? Who told us that knowledge is all we needed? When did being teachable become lame or frowned upon? I get it; information is just seconds away from our fingertips. What took years, months, or weeks to do, we can easily get in a matter of seconds. But aren’t there people who have been where we are trying to go? People much wiser than we are! We need so much help, guidance, and insight because our generation is so much weaker than we let off. Our capacity for life’s issues is slim to none. No, I’m not bashing our generation but I am challenging how we think!

EXCELLENCE IS NOT AN ACT BUT A HABIT!

This is what is written on a bathroom stall at my job, motivating right? Should be! However, we all want to be a boss, self-made, successful people without fundamental principles like authority, discipline, accountability, work ethic, and integrity just to name a few. We have turned into a group of individuals that feel entitled to everything but won't work for anything. Sounds harsh but it’s the truth!

Now by now you all should know that I am transparent, so listen up. I am in my 20s making well above average at my job in my career field. I was bringing in money I never imagined at my age. Mind you; I was told I need to budget my money and get on a daily schedule to bring order and peace to my very chaotic life. Too me, that was for the birds, so I didn’t do it. I impulsively spent money, procrastinated on important things, and continued to ignore WISDOM. Unexpectedly, a series of events happened and I lost control of my life. My life was crashing down! And as a result, my car got repossessed. That maybe small for you but was HUGE for me because it was a major piece in how I took care of my household. Now what? I NEEDED HELP and my family had to adjust their daily schedule to help me because I didn’t adhere to wisdom! Tough and very humbling lesson. Sadly, this is the lesson our generation repeats over and over because we are a generation full of information but no application!

Proverbs 1:8 My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.

We view correction as a death sentence and instruction as lies. I know we are a “see it to believe it” generation but sometimes your greatest reward is in simply listening and doing. God has placed people in our lives to teach us skills that will help us become a" boss" as we like to say. They are there to show us a more excellent way but we refuse; why? Because we would rather sacrifice than obey. 1 Samuel 15:22 says Obedience is better than sacrifice. There are great rewards in obeying what God says. “JUST DO IT” in the words of Nike. The instructions will not always give results in 30 seconds or less but if we stick with it we will learn so much!

We were not placed here to be loose cannons. We are placed here ON PURPOSE FOR PURPOSE. So, why aren’t we living purposefully? What i have realized is we think we can do it by ourselves without order, guidance, and direction. Its hard for us to just Submit to authority, be accountable, and let your words have value. God will not trust you with much if you can’t handle the little. SIT DOWN and learn something! Wisdom shows us how and when to apply the knowledge we have.

You cannot be great without HELP AND TEACHERS! I imagine what life would look like if Jesus did not listen his father or if the disciples didn’t listen to their teacher JESUS. All teachers must be taught but many of us rather avoid that part process.

Passion and ambition is great but without accountability, discipline, and wise counsel (teachers, mentor, parents) whatever you plan on starting will short lived.
