Selfie or Selfish

So I was sitting in this concert, it hadn't started yet. And of course the typical thing for my generation to do is pull out are phones. I didn't think anything of it until I looked up and EVERYBODY was taking a selfie! Even I took some. This was a great opportunity to make friendships, encourage others our age, or simply have a simple conversation but no SELF in that moment was more important to us. Yeah, I know you are probably thinking what's your point? My point is, that we are obsessed with SELF. We show off for a viral world that can careless. I'm not saying pictures are bad cause I like them to! However, the problem is that we feel the need to display OURSELVES all time and it makes us look like a vain and selfish generation! We have this "every man for themselves" mindset that is dangerous because we will go miles to stay relevant and on top....AT ANY COST. We rarely consider other people without expecting a return. When really we are to put others ABOVE ourselves. It's wasn't the "Jesus" show. AND HE WAS THE SON OF GOD, the greatest! The moments we read about are him performing great works for OTHERS. He gave of himself selflessly. He didn't turn water into wine and then go live on Facebook for praise and acculades from people. His life was not built based on likes, follows, and views. He left a great legacy by being love, perseverance, long suffering, joyful, enduring, friendly, and the list goes on and guess what it was for OTHER PEOPLE; not for self gain. So here's the challenge: Turn off the lights, put the cameras down, and go be Jesus to someone without expecting anything in return! If all you want is the applause of man for everything you do that's what you will get but don't expect anything else from God. Go create a "MOMENT that's not YOUR moment!
