Carpe Diem

Have you ever been sitting in your car, chilling at home, or out in the city shopping; and your phone hits 5%? Well, since most of these posts I talk about my “truths”; I’ll just say if your anything like me, you turn your battery saver on and keep it moving. Unfortunately, this is an epic fail because most times you are on that important phone call, responding to a good friend’s text, and when you need your phone the most… IT DIES! So, you panic in desperation to find your charger, so you can reconnect with that moment.

I always say God has a sense of humor; and he chooses the most inopportune times to slap that mirror right in my face. If you haven’t guessed that above scenario was about me, February 24, 2020. I was doing the killing time scrolling on Facebook, checking emails, and responding to text I hadn’t been able to get to, but God used that moment to highlight something that in THIS season I had to deal with. And that was.....

PROCRASINATION

It’s funny how we think we have so much time only to realize; time waits for no one or nothing.In that moment I was shocked that God used such a petty moment (in my eyes) to reveal something so major, and because God loves me so much; he wanted to show me how subtle and actively involved procrastination was in my life. Here’s some points he highlighted to me;

Delayed obedience is still disobedience....it’s a direct result of laziness.....

it just shows a lack of trust in God.

Stop, take a deep breath I know that was a lot but its so true. We have all heard the phrase, “Obedience is better than sacrifice”, but when we choose to procrastinate, we sacrifice time and opportunity granted to us by being obedient.

My pastor always says, “We don’t leave life to chance, you determine what the end is going to be.” However, since we can be a tad bit lazy at times, fearful, wanna be in control, know every little detail before we bust a move and don’t want to put the work in on the front end (pray, write the vision, research etc.). We usually have to deal with what life throws at us because we chose to wait till the last minute to do what God said or anything in life for that matter.

Let’s do ourselves a favor by kicking procrastination in the butt and stop missing moments with God, favor with those around us, and opportunities.

There’s no greater time than the PRESENT to get it done.

Whatever your “IT” may be; just do it! Tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us and nobody has time to wait. Go write the book, start that business, finish school, or simply go get that oil change as soon as the light comes on instead of waiting. Whatever it is do what Matthew 6:34 says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
